2002 ICCCIA Conference

Hamilton, New Jersey, USA

Overview

The 2002 ICCCIA Conference in Hamilton, New Jersey marked the inaugural gathering of what would become
an international network of artists, educators, foundry technicians, and researchers committed to advancing
contemporary cast iron art. Hosted in the Sculpture Foundation / Grounds For Sculpture region,
this first ICCCIA event helped define the collaborative and interdisciplinary spirit that continues to shape
the organization.

The conference featured hands-on furnace construction, mold making workshops, academic presentations,
iron pours, panel discussions, and the establishment of an ongoing international dialogue surrounding cast iron
as both a sculptural medium and a global community practice.
